Cayman Islands

The Cayman Islands are located in the Caribbean Sea to the north west of Jamaica and to the south of Cuba. This region is the economic centre of the Caribbean. The island group comprises of three islands: Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman. The most developed island is the Grand Cayman, that is 8 miles in width and 22 miles in length. Regardless of being a British Overseas Territory, most of the visitors are Americans. It’s just about one and a half hours from Florida by air. With its short travelling time as well as English as the official language it is no surprise that thousands of Us citizens have a Cayman Islands vacation each year.

Cayman Islands have high living standards, and most of the population of these islands resides on Grand Cayman. The majority of the citizens are the Protestants of British or African descent and most of them are from the mixed racial ethnicity. The official language of Cayman Islands is English. People accents retain the elements passed down from English, Scottish, and Welsh settlers. Inhabitants of Jamaican origin converse in their own language. The history of Cayman Islands is affluent with stunning details, and the islands have a great weather. The coolest month is February, and the hottest month is in July.

Cayman IslandsThe old sea based sectors such as shipping and fishing have been replaced by tourism and finance as the main sources for the Islands economy, with many islanders employed in one or the other. The Cayman Islands attracts many international companies and citizens to relocate as a result of its success in the tourism and financial service industries.

The prosperity of the Cayman Islands originates from the distinction of having over 25,000 registered companies, and over 500 international financial institutions situated on their shores. The Cayman Islands have a unique registering system that allows businesses to be legitimately registered by just paying a fee. It’s no wonder the Cayman Islands are a safe haven for offshore investments which offer lucrative tax shelters.

The seas around the Caymans are one of the best in the world for water activities. There are many providers that can help to make the most of the seas, including snorkelling, diving, fishing and sailing. Scuba diving and snorkelling are the most favoured tourist activities in Cayman Islands especially at the Stingray City, the world’s best spot for a 10-foot dive. At Stingray City can also enjoy the adventure of swimming with many sea creatures.

Another prime attraction in the Caymans includes its powder-white sand which stretches out into the turquoise Caribbean Sea. Tiny reefs are often found off the shore and are favourite spot for snorkelers. Man-made reefs found in island resorts of the beach are also loved by beginners where numerous marine life forms are also artificially taken care in big marine aquariums.

Blue Lizards are cool

I just came on holiday to the Cayman Islands with my mom and dad. We stayed in a pink condo on the beach and it was great. I was really excited by the Blue Iguanas as I never saw one that was blue before and we dont have lizards in England where I am from especially not in Yorkshire but we do have lots of sheep.

Anyway I hope that they manage to save the lizard because a blue animal is the coolest thing ever and I am really happy that I saw them. The man at the park said that they were very endangered and that everyone was trying hard to save them.

I also really thought Stingray city was great as well and when I come back for another holiday I cant wait to swim with them again.

Cayman's future is in 'change'

Over the past year and a half we have all watched the recovery of Cayman after Hurrricane Ivan spiral into a more complex ever increasing difficult issue to get a hold of and solve. I believe there are three issues that need to be addressed to lay the foundation for positive harmonious growth and recovery.

They all involve the dreaded six letter word, "change". First and foremost constitutional and immigration reform. They are now linked because of the many Caymanians from other countries.

To move forward into the next three decades the line between "born and papered" must disappear. This is a big change for many hard liners but once achieved Cayman will have social harmony and even the hard liners will marvel at the prosperity that will fall on Cayman. Second, the way the country makes its money should be reinvented.

Survey says Saturday service for PO

With the results of its recent survey in the Cayman Islands, the Post Office is making plans to open on Saturday by the end of summer.

The postal survey, which was conducted from 28 April through 5 May showed that, while six out of 10 customers are able to complete their postal business during regular hours, 69 per cent of respondents still want the Post Office to open on Saturday.

The alternative, extended weekday hours, was selected by 53 per cent of respondents.

Only 39.2 per cent said they could not complete their postal business during regular hours.

Opening hours on Grand Cayman are typically about 8:30 am until - 5:00 pm, though it does vary. East End and North Side close for lunch between 12 noon and 1:00 pm. Hours of operation also vary on Cayman Brac and Little Cayman.

An exhibition of artwork at Heritage House

Artwork produced by students at all schools on Cayman Brac was on display at the Heritage House for a special two week exhibit.

The display included some of the Cayman Brac High School Year 11 work, taken from their final presentations for the external arts course this year, said Art Teacher Alison McLeod.

"Each student must undertake three units in different areas of skill - such as drawing, printmaking, ceramics, textiles - and produce a presentation for each. The course culminates in an exam based on one of the areas they have studied," she explained.

"The Year 7 work on display was based on a study of the artist Huntderwasser. The students study his style of work and are then asked to produce a piece, in this case they were using elements of the face, in that style," she said.

BUSHITES REACH NEW LOW - dying for lies no longer in disguise

Again, realize, FOX, CNN, and CBC will all in the thousands, receive this information about 9/11's Ahmad, but will refuse to support honorable Police officers, our Humanity's cause for Freedom through Justice, or our beliefs in any religion. They, as murderous sadists, fascists, obstruct Justice for ourselves by refusing to report on the facts of why America continues to fight, dying sacrificed, while censoring your cries for understanding.
